Carat

The Carat is a unit of weight, not size.

When discussing carat we talk about ‘points’. 1 carat is equal to 100 points; half a carat is equal to 50 points and so on.

Out of all the various diamond characteristics, the weight has the greatest impact on the price and owing to the fact that the bigger the diamond the rarer it becomes.

It is important to bear in mind that two stones of the same size can have very different values depending on quality (the remaining c’s) A good Cut, Clarity and Colour will contribute to a price alongside its weight.

A 1 carat diamond price can range from £5,000 to £25,000. This all depends on quality
